Something is wrong in the quiet Scottish coastal town of Kirkford Bay.

This work of speculative fiction is loosely based on a real radioactive beach in Scotland where the military buried radium-coated aircraft debris along the shoreline. 

Erosion slowly unearthed the waste, washing radioactive contamination ashore. Many families fled, fearing for their health. Those who remained learned to live with the uncertainty.

Dying Tides begins years after the villagers were told everything was under control, but now, Kirkford Bay is unraveling again.

We follow a lonely young woman new to Kirkford Bay; A marine biologist with a dark secret who came to town to study the growing unusual marine activity; A bitter radioactive materials specialist charged with monitoring the area; and finally a spunky retired barmaid, who has lived in Kirkford Bay all her life. The surfacing horrors force them to confront what was buried—both in the town, and in themselves.

Their paths converge as the town spirals. If they want to survive, they’ll have to figure out what’s really happening and let the world know, before it’s too late.
